Multicomponent, multiphase interactions in fuel-cell inks

نویسندگان

چکیده

Fuel-cell catalyst layers (CLs) are porous electrodes that fabricated from CL inks: colloidal dispersions of particles and ion-conducting polymer (ionomer), dispersed in solvent(s). The complex interactions between the ink components ultimately dictate microstructure electrochemical performance. To control formation process optimize fuel-cell performance, knowledge these is vital. In this review, we analyze data ink-focused papers to elucidate how parameters (solvent type, ionomer-to-carbon ratio, etc.) impact We then discuss results context current understanding two critical interactions: ionomer/solvent ionomer/catalyst particle interactions.

Parallel Simulation of Multiphase/Multicomponent Flow Models

The simulation of flow in porous media is a computationally demanding task. Thermodynamical equilibrium calculations and complex, heterogeneous geological structures normally gives a multiphysics/multidomain problem to solve. Thus, efficient solution methods are needed. The research simulator Athena is a 3D, multiphase, multicomponent, porous media flow simulator. A parallel version of the simu...

Multicomponent-Multiphase Equation of State for Carbon

The PANDA code is used to build a tabular equation of state (EOS) table for carbon. The model includes three solid phases (graphite, diamond, and metallic) and a fluid phase mixture containing three molecular components (C1, C2, and C3). Separate EOS tables were first constructed for each solid phase and for each molecular species in the fluid phase. Next, a mixture/chemical equilibrium model w...

A Multicomponent and Multiphase Model of Reactive Wetting

A diffuse-interface model of reactive wetting with intermetallic formation is presented. The model incorporates fluid flow, solute diffusion, and phase change that are based on the total molar Gibbs energy of a ternary system with four phases. Numerical simulations were performed successfully revealing the complex behavior of the reactive wetting process that include nucleation and growth of an...
